Bacardi Rum has released its newest product, the Bacardi Caribbean Spiced, a premium spiced aged rum that is made with a blend of pineapple, coconut, vanilla, and cinnamon. This marks Bacardi's first foray into the premium spiced aged rum market. The new release has been crafted by Bacardi Rum blender Noidys Herrera, who has honed her craft for over ten years, working closely with Bacardi's global master blender, Troy Arquiza.
Herrera was inspired by her love for her home in the Caribbean, where she grew up surrounded by coconut trees and became fascinated by their flavor qualities. Bacardi's iconic coconut palm (El Coco) planted at the original Bacardi Rum distillery symbolizes the strong link between the coconut tree and the Bacardi family. Known as the tree of life in Herrera's culture, the coconut tree's significance and flavors have been infused into the Bacardi Caribbean Spiced.
Bacardi's unique process of creating the rum uses both a heavy-aged rum base, which provides the flavors of molasses, and a light-aged rum base, blended with coconut blossom sugar, pineapple, and coconut water. Cinnamon and vanilla are also blended into the spirit, followed by a rest period and a second polishing filter for clarity and color.
When developing Caribbean Spiced, Bacardi Rum also recognized the desire for classic tropical drinks like the Piña Colada. Dickie Cullimore, global brand ambassador for Bacardi Rum, said, "Category research showed us that flavored and spiced are the fastest-growing segments in rum and specifically premium rum, and the Piña Colada has risen through the ranks as a top five cocktail. Even more exciting was our discovery that people were looking specifically for unique flavors and aged rums."
Bacardi Caribbean Spiced is bottled at 40% ABV and is available in the UK on Mixlab and Ocado for £24, then retailers including Tesco and Waitrose nationwide from April.
